In 2001, the Bridgestone global family of companies adopted a new corporate philosophy. This philosophy focused on building ‘Trust and Pride’ with its key stakeholders including employees, customers, and communities.

In 2007, Bridgestone acquired Bandag, Incorporated, a US-based tyre retreader. Bandag allowed Bridgestone to provide customers of truck and bus tyres worldwide with leading technology and a total tyre solution for both new tyres and retreads.

Commitment and Passion

Today, Bridgestone South Africa’s Port Elizabeth plant has a total of 43,000 m2 of factory space, employs over 350 people and has a capacity of 800 tyres per day ranging from 10kg front tractor tyres to earthmover tyres weighing up to 800kg.

Bridgestone's South African plants are supported by a vast sales network, including nearly 260 Supa Quick branches.

Bridgestone remains committed as ever to being a world leader in tyre technology and the development of the most advanced tyres and rubber products in the world.

We will always aim to provide world class customer service, and our “Passion for Excellence” can be summed up in the words of our founder Shojiro Ishibashi who said that Bridgestone is dedicated worldwide to “serve society with superior quality”.
