Nissan/Bridgestone Off-Road Tactix

Nissan/Bridgestone Off-Road Tactix isa partnership which involves like-minded companies, such as Bridgestone, who share a strong, positive belief in the future of off-roading in South Africa.

Our aim is to provide the highest quality training and adventure situations, whilst keeping the costs. as low as possible. We believe that once drivers become fully competent in handling their vehicles you can fully enjoy the true off-road lifestyle with minimum impact on the environment, allowing you and your family the chance to experience the fun, family-friendly world of off-roading.

Nissan/Bridgestone Tactix has very highly qualified and experienced instructors. This allows them to travel to 4x4 training centres all around the country, wherever they are needed rather than being confined to just one track.

We have already created three training trails. Pecanwood , west of Pretoria, serves the Gauteng area. Shongweni, between Durban and Pietermaritzburg, serves Kwa Zulu-Natal. And Zevenwacht wine estate in Kuils River near Cape Town, serves the Western Cape.

Although most of the training takes place on the trail in a real off-road environment, each course begins with a short theoretical session discussing the environment and includes an in-depth explanation of the “Tread with Respect” concept.

We also explain how various four-wheel drive systems actually work, as well as clearing up some of the more technical terminology and, of course, there’s a full safety briefing before we head out on the trail.

All of our instructors use Nissan Hardbody 4x4 pickups with tyres supplied by one our partners in the venture, Bridgestone. Certificates of attendance which are recognized by most major insurance companies are issued on completion of each course.

Anyone can attend the various Tactix courses, whether you are a fleet owner who wants to hone the skills of your drivers, reducing fleet costs caused by accidents and inadequate driving skills, or just someone who wants to learn how to handle your vehicle properly. There’s also a free introductory course for all new owners of Nissan 4x4 vehicles.

There are several different Nissan/Bridgestone Off-road Tactix courses of varying levels of difficulty you can choose from.

Nissan/Bridgestone Off-Road Tactix
Introductory Off-Road Skills

This course covers the basics of driving a 4x4 on and off-road. Starting with safety, types of obstacles you will come across as well as driving techniques, and demystifying the terminology. Naturally there are various practical driving exercises aimed at developing driving skills and taking care of the environment. The session ends with a discussion on basic equipment requirements and an evaluation of individual vehicles highlighting recovery points, tyres etc. Special training is also offered to X-TRAIL owners. All of this takes place in a fun, family- friendly atmosphere.

Nissan/Bridgestone Off-Road Tactix II
Intermediate Off-Road Driving

This normally follows a Tactix I session and covers the basics of vehicle recovery including recovery straps and equipment, basic winching, and jacking, as well as highlighting individual recovery points. As always there is a very strict emphasis on safety. The group will finish the day sharpening their skills on various more demanding obstacles.

Recovery Equipment

In Tactix Ill we have created an extremely advanced recovery course where the focus is entirely on vehicle recovery in a variety of situations. These are not simulated exercises and the group will work through difficult terrain using all known methods and equipment to effect recovery.

On/Off-Road Driving

This is a highly specialized course where we focus upon the dynamics of driving passenger cars as well as off-road vehicles across varying terrain under different conditions.

Nissan/Bridgestone Off-Road Tactix V
Trips and Trails (In-traiI training)

Our instructors all offer an extensive menu of trips and trails, from weekend breakaways to longer overland trips. Depending on the size of your group special trips can also easily be arranged.

Our trips all have a strong training emphasis which in many cases is combined with a particular lifestyle component such as fly-fishing, scuba diving or river rafting.

GPS

Depending on demand we often hold dedicated GPS courses which use the property to its fullest extent. Our instructors are highly proficient and available to offer advice and guidance both at the tracks and on trails.

Experiential Marketing

We offer two exciting driving events. The “Dynamic Driving Experience” and the “Dynamic Product Experience”. We have designed both of these to enhance your understanding of vehicle dynamics in an interesting and entertaining way.
