Bridgestone's UNI-T AQII
UNI-T AQII constitutes:
Traditionally, the developement of a tyre involved 'trade-off's', for example - improvements in road grip would neccesitate a reduction in the lifespan of the tyre. However, using highly advanced design systems has enabled Bridgestone to overcome normally conflicting areas of providing simultaneous benefits in:
O-Bead eliminates the overlapped joint in the bead cable by using a single, continuous strand of cable. This creates a tyre assembly that is more precisely round. A more precisely round wheel improves:
Long Link Carbon is an improved reinforcing material that increases the wear resistance and reduces the energy loss of rubber. Conventional carbon black particles form in clusters that look like bunches of grapes. Super L.L. Carbon replaces these clusters with long chains. These long chains resist wear better by dissipating cracking energy over a larger area than the grape-like cluster, thus:
Flat Force Block tread design customises the tread block to suit each tyre size. The uniform stiffness of the tread block results in a:
Consistent Surface Contact optimises each tread block design to provide even pressure on each block. Consistent Surface Contact improves:
Tiny riblets along the groove wall reduce hydro-resistance. Hydro Evacuation Surface ensures that drainage performance is enhanced, reducing the risk of aqua-planning.
Particle Z is a filler agent designed to increase the adhesion index, giving the block surfaces a higher deformation ability. The improved deformation capability enhances the contact of the blocks optimising Wet Handling.
Dual Layer Tread is a double layer of tread compound. Over the life of the tyre, more and more of the softer compound is exposed. The higher grip, softer base rubber exposed after use maintains performance of worn tyres even after 50% wear and improves wet performance.
E.P Compound helps the tyre retain its softness throughout its life. This development, comprising 3 compound types, improves wet weather performance resulting from softer rubber compounds.
Uni Directional Tread ensures optimum performance by allowing the tread pattern to be optimised for improved wet and dry handling.
Shock Absorbing Rubber, designed specifically for that purpose, is placed between the tread rubber and the tyre's belt. Ride Comfort is improved by the minimising of unpleasant shocks.
Silica is a compound used to partially or totally replace carbon black. Silica improves grip and roadholding - particularly in wet and cold conditions and also reduces energy loss and rolling resistance.
The Jointless application of nylon overlays to constrain the belt package improves the tyre's:
Rim Guard is an enlarged rubber ridge encircling the lower sidewall, providing protection against kerbing, for both tyre and rim.
3D Groove means a wider groove width near the bottom of the groove, displacing water more effectively. The displacement is consistent over the life of the tyre, even as the tyre wears, maintains wet performance.
Keyhole Sipes in the tread widen as the tyre wears. The Keyhole Sipe's design ensures that Wet Handling is maintained even as the tyre wears.
Super Slant High angled grooves (from tread centre to shoulder) increase water clearance and improve contact pressure. Super Slant grooves resist aqua-planing and the resultant even contact pressure improves wet and dry handling.
Multicell Compound is an advanced and highly porous, water absorbing, rubber based compound that increases water absorption - enhancing wet grip in icy conditions.
